Viewing log files
Log files are used in order to document the changes that have been made. The log files can also be used to help speed
up the process for localizing the cause of any faults that occur. Log files do not contain any personal data. Therefore,
the log files can be handed over to the BvL help desk at any time. If the log files cannot be called up due to a fault,
use

Log file 0
Logs errors relating to the documents and tables.
Log file 1
Logs errors and missing hard discs.
Log file 2
Logs errors and events, e.g., the BvLArchivio® server being shut down.
Log file 2b
Logs the FTP service.
Log file 3
Logs daily events, e.g., hard disc availability, the freely available storage memory on the hard discs, and other events.
Log file 4
Logs all settings that have beenmade or deleted for the workstations and users.
Log file 5
Full list of all workstations and users who have limitations to their search authorizations. This list is created once a day at
00:00 and includes all workstations and users with their relevant settings.
Log file 6
List of all file names uploaded by FTP that have been deleted due to an error, e.g., if a TXT file was uploaded first or on
its own (the TXT file is not stored in the error archive).

Not used
Log file 10
Date log with the number of archived files for a particular day.
Log file 10b
Date log with a list of the archived files.
Log file 11
Hourly log file of activities.
Log file 12/13

Time-stamped file for activities, updated on an hourly basis, record of overnight status.
Log file 14/15/16

Logs the times and serial numbers for the hard discs in the system, including the number of files.
Log file 17
Logs the times for “Check and Copy” processes (missing files are copied over in the event of a change to the hard disc).
Log file 18
Logs the incoming TIF/TIFF/PDF files for OCR recognition (via FTP upload in a year/month).
Log file 19
Logs the incoming files not sent for OCR recognition (via FTP upload in a year/month).
Log file 20
Logs the PDF files (file names) produced by the OCR function in a year/month.
Log file 21–25

Logs the search terms subsequently added to an archived file for an archive (1–5).
“Who is searching for what” log file
If switched on, BvLArchivio® automatically creates user logs and IP logs about who has searched for what in the archive.
This information enables you to better understand which users and workstations have called up which information in the
archive. The logs are written at an IP address and user level. Therefore, every IP address and every user has their own log
file. You can call up a list of log files by entering the following:
